[PHOTO] South African Pastor Preaches From Inside Coffin At Popular Bus Stop

Last Saturday, South African shoppers were left shell shocked after meeting a coffin at their bus stop. Investigations revealed that the members of SA’s Potter’s House Christian Church put it there to spread the gospel to residents of George in the Western Cape and to urge them to embrace God!

Defending the weird approach to evangelism, a church member named Aphiwe said: “We brought the coffin to illustrate to people who fail to embrace Jesus as the son of God that they will go to hell and face eternal death.

“Those who believe in Him will live a glorious life of eternity in heaven when they die.

“We use the coffin to urge people to embrace God. Once death occurs, it is too late to decide. Everybody is going to die, so let’s find Jesus.”

He added: “People should understand that whether they are rich or poor or black or white – the same fate awaits them and that is death.”

The pastor of the church, Randall van Staden said church members use theatre, music and the coffin to spread the gospel in towns like Mossel Bay, Knysna and Oudts-hoorn.

The coffin idea did not go down well with a lot of people. A 74-year-old witness said it was disrespectful to their culture while another woman said the whole saga amazed her daughter.

[PHOTOS+VIDEO] Meet Nigeria’s First Female Mechanic, Sandra Aguebor

sandra2

Sandra is one of the few woman charting a brave new course in something many people would term as unconventional. She decided to make a name for herself early on in life by becoming a female mechanic and she has been doing quite well.

Growing up in a polygamous family in Benin City, her mother actively discouraged her from following her dreams, sometimes beating her when she would be busy working on an engine instead of doing her chores in the kitchen.

Speaking in an interview with Al Jazeera, Sandra said, “The constraints, the obstacles, the challenges that could have driven me back, they became my opportunity. The future looks bright.”

Her quest to create an impact with the work of her hands has driven her to create a network of female mechanics that is now spreading from city to city, and training former sex workers, orphans, and victims of trafficking delve into mechanics.

sandra1

Sandra believes that women are better suited to high quality, technical work on motor vehicles.

“Our clients keep coming back – they prefer us because we are determined to be better than a lot of mechanics who take their job and their salary for granted,” she says.

Sandra’s Lady Mechanic Initiative has now spread to the north with its first project in Kano City where the response from Muslim women has been noteworthy. Slowly but surely, this determined one-of-a-kind lady is taking Nigeria by storm.

Read Emir Sanusi’s Full Statement On Why He Married His New 18-Year-Old Bride, Sa’adatu

0

emir and wife joined

54-year-old Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II (Lamido Sanusi), has issued a statement in response to critics who attacked him for marrying 18-year-old secondary school leaver and Adamawa princess, Sa’adatu Barkindo-Musdafa.

“I am sure NC members all have their views and have kept quiet out of (appropriate) deference to our right to make our individual choice. Obviously I do not need to explain anything to anyone in a purely personal matter but a few points are worthy of note:

The lady in question is 18 and therefore legally of age to marry under all laws and certainly under Muslim law.
She is proceeding for her undergraduate education in the UK in January. She had an A in computer science in her O levels and plans to get a degree in computer science.

3. Each and every one of my wives is a university graduate and some have worked and then stopped and in each case the choice was purely theirs.

It is a tradition in Kano that emirs and princes in choosing wives consider issues beyond the individual. The family is in every sense a social unit. My predecessor was married to princesses from Ilorin, Katsina and Sokoto.

5. The relationship between the late Lamido of Adamawa Aliyu Musdafa the father of the current Lamido is well known. Lamido Aliyu was the first emir turbaned after emir Sanusi I and they remained close until Sanusi’s death.

My own relationship with the current Lamido dates back to 1981 when he was Ciroma and commissioner for works. By the way the Lamido and I are not illiterates we know what we are doing and he does have a PhD in Engineering.
My own mother was married in Adamawa and lived there for more than two decades and I have eight younger brothers and sisters from there.

8. It is therefore natural that if I choose to marry from another kingdom Adamawa would be the first choice for me and I am extremely happy to strengthen these long historical bonds.

sanusi stylish

The young lady in question gave her free consent and even after the contract the wedding will not happen for a few years. By then she may be 21. If she freely consents to this I do not know on what moral grounds anyone has a grouse. She is an adult, she gave her consent, and her education is not being in anyway interrupted.

The real issue is that people do not accept cultural difference. And you can see it in the approach to these issues. I am supposed to be urbane and western educated. Yes but I am not European. I am a northern Nigerian Fulani Muslim brought up in a setting exactly like the one my children are being brought up in.

If you read this and it improves your understanding of this issue that is fine. If it does not just remember it is not your life, it is not your daughter and you are not my wife therefore it is not your business.

I obviously cannot stoop to the level of responding publicly to these kinds of articles. I have always been an advocate of girls marrying after maturing. I personally like the minimum age of 18 even though I understand those who say 16 is fine and indeed this is the law in most so called advanced countries.

Is this something that I expect a European or western trained or feminist mind to appreciate or endorse? Not at all. But has any American been bothered about my views on men marrying men or women marrying women who frankly I find primitive and bestial? No and my views do not matter. These are cultural issues.

Even in Nigeria I have heard all this stuff as in Pius article about “north” and northerners. Again it is a failure to respect difference. There are parts of this country where parents expect their daughters to live with their boyfriends for years and actually get pregnant before they marry. It has become culture. We do not have that in the north and if your daughter gets pregnant before marriage she brings nothing but shame to the name. But we do not issue condemnations. We agree that this is how they choose to live. And I can give many other examples.

When people use the term libido they do themselves injustice. First of all it shows how they view women and marriage. Women are nothing but the object of sexual desire. Marriage is nothing but sexual gratification. Well I am sorry but in my tradition it is not. Beauty and attraction rank third after religion and lineage in the choice of a wife.

emir bride3

They see an 18 year old young lady. I see a princess of noble birth whose mother is also a princess, and who has been brought up in a good Muslim home. This is the kind of woman that is prepared for giving birth to princes and bringing them up for the role expected of them in society.

Marriage is both social and political. Expanding the links of Kano which have already been established by my predecessors through inter-marriage with Katsina, Sokoto, Ilorin, Katagum, Ningi, Bauchi etc to Adamawa is an important and significant step and this is obvious to anyone with a sense of how royal families work and Ibn Khaldun’s sociological concept of Asabiyyah.

When the Emir of Kano marries it has to be something beyond what he personally desires to what is appropriate for that position and the expectations of the people he represents. You don’t just pick up any girl on the street. And by the way, for those who shout libido, sex is cheap and available everywhere in all shapes and sizes and all colours if that is what they want. And all ages too. Marriage is a very different proposition. The mother of your children has to be something other than, not at least much more than a mere object of sexual fantasy. But if you do not know that you need to buy yourself a brain.

emir bride2

I have daughters. And they know they can only marry from certain backgrounds. I always prefer family. When my daughter wanted to marry Mouftah Baba Ahmed’s son and she asked me, knowing my views on family, I told her Mouftah is family. And this is not about me and Mouftah or me an Hakeem or Nafiu. No. It goes back to Baba Ahmed and Emirs Sanusi and Bayero. And the same rule applies to my sons. And it applied to me as well.

bride acid

A newly wedded Pakistani woman recently lost her life after her in-laws forced her to drink acid, for bringing what they as insufficient dowry. The case was reported to have occurred on Monday in the Daska area of Punjab province.

Police official Rana Riaz claimed the 25-year-old bride, Takreem Bibi was married on September 4, and her in-laws were angry about her dowry.

“She was taken to hospital, where she died due to internal injuries caused by acid consumption,” he said.

Speaking to members of the press, Riaz said the police were still trying to track down Bibi’s husband in connection with the crime.

Sources reveal that killing of women over dowry issues is an ubiquitous practice in Pakistan.

[PHOTOS] 24-Year-Old Nigerian University Reject Builds Working Robot In Sri Lanka

robot4

A 24-year-old Nigerian, Bobai Ephraim Kato, has successfully built a fully functional artificial intelligence robot for his final year project at the International College of Business and Technology (ICBT) in Sri Lanka.
Kato’s story is quite ground-breaking and definitely note-worthy. After his secondary school education in Nigeria in 2009, he wrote JAMB exams twice trying to get an admission into Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria to study medicine, but all to no avail.

He couldn’t get into the remedial school at ABU, and Kaduna State University (KASU) did not accept him either. He finally got a shot at KASU’s remedial school wherehe sat for the NIIT (National Institute of Information Technology) scholarship exam. Kato’s success story took shape over the next four years as he eventually ended up in Sri Lanka and studied Software Engineering.

robot2

A Nigerian Software Engineering student, Kato personally built and developed the algorithm that enabled the robot to solve a Rubik’s Cube in a matter of minutes – a feat he admits to have never achieved himself.
He said, “ My first 5 tests were a failure. The robot always shot a scanning error, and this was a week to my final submission. All I could do was pray. I didn’t know what to do again. I was confused and restless. I kept grinding and it finally started working. At that stage, the robot wasn’t intelligent enough and I had to train it to solve many puzzles to get more skills to save in the database.”

robot1

Kato spent two nights building the robot. After construction, he installed the software which served as the brain into a memory card for testing. A week to Kato’s final submission, the robot was still not functional. It took six tries to get the robot to work, and then a few days to increase its intelligence quotient. It was hard work for Kato, as he could not solve the Rubik’s Cube himself.

robot5

The robotics star has his sights on making an impact in his home country, Nigeria. He said, “I’m happy to return back to Nigeria as a Cyber Security and Digital forensic Tech. If anything, that’s what Nigeria needs more. We need people who are savvy and sincere in Digital Investigation, Cyber Security and Forensic

Here’s Why FIFA Has Banned Ex-Vice President, Jack Warner From Football Related Activities For Life

0

FIFA’s ethics committee on Tuesday banned former FIFA vice-president Jack Warner from all football activity for life for a long list of “misconduct.”

Warner, 72, who is from Trinidad and Tobago was one of 14 football officials and sports marketing executives who were indicted in the United States on May 27 on bribery, money laundering and wire fraud charges involving more than $150m in payments.

The FIFA ethics committee said Warner was investigated following an inquiry into the bidding process for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

Warner was found to have committed “many and various acts of misconduct continuously and repeatedly during his time as an official in different high-ranking and influential positions at FIFA and CONCACAF,” the committee said

Warner is the former president of CONCACAF, the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football. He is currently in his native Trinidad and Tobago, where he is fighting extradition to the United States.

Warner resigned from his posts when he was placed under investigation by the ethics committee in 2011 over a cash-for-votes scandal in the run-up to that year’s FIFA presidential election. The case was subsequently dropped by the ethics committee as he was no longer involved in football.

[VIDEO] Meet Child Genius With ‘Super Powers’ Capable Of Riding Bike While Blindfolded

0

vikas2

This 10-year-old boy is capable of doing things many people are astonished by and many are calling him a modern day super hero. He has been filmed identifying colours, reading, riding a bike and walking without bumping into other pedestrians – while wearing a blindfold.

The young boy named Vikas Panchal shows he’s no ordinary by picking up different colour balls and beads while blindfolded and knowing them correctly. He puts them under his nose and sniffs them and seconds later can describe the colour, even telling the difference between two different shades of the same colour.

vikas3

Other footage shows him blindfolded and riding a bicycle around his school playground and then picking out a particular classmate from a line of fellow pupils.

He is also seen wandering around his local neighbourhood in Delhi, India wearing a blindfold while dodging potholes and pedestrians.

According to Vikas, he is able to do what he does through a mind-training technique known as Midbrain Activation.

It targets the stimulation of a small part of the brain that acts as a relay centre for information gathered from the body’s visual, auditory and motor systems.

It is claimed that people who develop their mid brain will never forget what they have seen or heard just once previously. Hence, they can do an aazing number of things without even looking.

vikas1

Vikas spends two hours each day practising the technique and says it has also transformed his schooling and seen him rise to the top of his class.

His trainer Shri Bhagwan, said: “His training is like meditation. We sit in a silent place and shut our eyes.

“Everyone’s mind has two parts. One part is the left side and other part is the right side.

“Our right side is more active than the left side. With this technique we activate the lazy side of our mind. The best time to train is before sunrise.”

The technique which only works on kids from 5-15 has helped Vikas to do well in his academics as he as changed from someone who was failing exams to being second or third in his class.

[PHOTOS] Rich Nigerian Donates His Hotel To Church And Becomes Keke Napep Rider

Mr Ray Murphy is without a doubt an above average Nigerian that many people in Lafia area of Nasarawa state see as a rich man. The unconventional man took everyone in his area by surprise when he donated a hotel owned by him to a Catholic Church to have it converted into a hospital for Internally Displaced People.

As if this didn’t generate enough buzz, Murphy took to the streets to work as a Keke NAPEP rider gathering a great deal of sympathy from those he encountered. He decided to look at life from the perspective of an average Nigerian hustler so he took a day out, got hold of a tricycle and pretended to be a real Keke NAPEP rider.

Read his heart-rending story:

MY DAY AS A KEKE OPERATOR

“I am back and I had a lot of fun today cruising the city as a keke Operator!

Lots of fun carrying passengers to their destinations and then refusing their money.

Come and see surprise, consternation, wonderment and even fear!

Moreover, I had a blast speaking to passengers with an Oxford accent. Some pitied me when I told them I just returned from UK and since I had no job, I took to keke riding.

Come and see sympathy. Ordinary Nigerians are truly kind and loving people! God bless you all for your kind hearts!

It was fun and I had the pleasure of sharing and interacting with people I would never had met otherwise! Glad I had the brainwave to do this.

A couple of females even shed tears of sympathy for me. They were sad that I came back home from abroad only to become a keke Operator! Women can be so kind!”

President-Robert-Mugabe-of-Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe President, Robert Mugabe made headlines with his ground-breaking speech at the United Nations General Assembly on Monday telling the assembled world leaders “we are not gays.”

“Respecting and upholding human rights is the obligation of all states,” Mugabe said to start the section of his speech on the issue.

But he went on to say that “nowhere does the [United Nations Charter] abrogate the right of some to sit in judgment over others in carrying out this universal obligation,” rejecting what he called “politicization” and “double standards.”

“We equally reject attempts to prescribe new rights that are contrary to our values, norms, traditions, and beliefs,” Mugabe said. “We are not gays.”

Mugabe’s line earned him light applause and some laughter from the assembled diplomats. The nonagenarian’s bold utterances have sparked a ton of debate on social media with many people wowed at the man’s audacity.
