A driver in Michigan, United States set a petrol station on fire by mistake after making use of a cigarette lighter to kill a spider.
According to a report by local broadcaster Fox 2, the man saw the spider and decided to burn it while he was filling his car with petrol.
The use of the lighter ignited a fire that engulfed the gas pump he was using and was threatening to devour more.
He somehow escaped serious injury and the gas station’s damage was contained to one pump, which was destroyed.
The man grabbed a nearby extinguisher and put out the flames before firefighters arrived. Later he admitted what he did, saying he spotted a spider on his gas tank and because of his fear of spiders, he pulled out his lighter in a bid to kill it.
