The 11th edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) went down at Port Elizabeth in South Africa and Kunle Afolayan’s October 1 dominated the honours roll.
The movie was honoured with the Best Nigerian Film and Winner for Achievement In Costume Design.
Veteran broadcaster, Sadiq Daba also carted home the award of Best Actor In A Leading Role for his impeccable acting.

Best Nigerian film – ‘October 1′
Achievement In Screenplay – “Le President – Cameroun”
Best Acor in A Supporting Role – Samson Tadese (Triangle, Ethiopia)
Best Promising Actor – Joint award Kemi Lala Akindoju (Dazzling Mirage) and Hassan Spike (Boda Boda thieves)
Best Actress in supporting role – Hilda Dokubo -Nigeria
Best actor in a leading role – Sadiq Daba
Best First Feature Film By A Director – “Destiny Ekaragha – Gone Too Far”
Special Jury Prize – Le President (Cameroon) and Triangle: Going to America (Ethiopia)
Life achievement award – Tony Vander Heyden (Movie director/producer)
Post humous award – late Oronto Douglas
Special recognition – Africa Magic
Special recognition – Kingsley Agoro
Honorary advisor for Africa Movie Academy Awards – Tony Elumelu
Winner Best Film- “Timbuktu – Mauritania”. Congratulations Abderrahmane Sissako
